2.9gb of memory use in other

only got 8gb but starting to fill up, have 434 mb Audio, 1.78gb Video, photos 127mb Apps 187mb but 2.9gb "other" what the heck can that be ? no sms on phone, minimal emails 100? 200 contacts and 20 appointments...any ideas please ?

orphaned audio?

a while ago all the music on my phone suddenly disappeared from the ipod database. wiping the directory that contained all the music solved the problem. if you don't have ssh access it's going to be difficult to find those 2.9 GB.

restore.

try restoring. AFTER you backup the iphone. it will wipe the hard drive and start from scratch. nothing SHOULD change, i've had small problems, but the idea is the it will wipe the drive and start back over.

I had the same problem as well. Did a cleanup of everything. But remember to backup.

Also, this would also show if you are using swap tunes when u are syncing with 2 different computers. Basically the songs will all appear as "others".
