Sorry if these or one of them was already said but I have been testing this out since the first iPhone update.

Two things I noticed different since the update that, to my knowledge, have not been posted here:

When you pull your ear phones out of the iPhone while music is still playing, it does not automatically start playing out loud. I like this bc if I pull them out I do not necessarily want my music blasting out loud with people around.

Also, before the update my girlfriends iPhone and my iPhone both would not play in our two different car iPod systems. It said that this device would not work with this accessory and if we wanted to go in airplane mode. Hitting "no" or "yes" would not do anything but play the music off the iPhone loud speaker.
Now after the update, both our iPhones work on both different accessories and play on the car loud stereo.

If these were not mentions, try it out, and let me know, at-least for the car one because I am interested if they fixed this.

If someone already mentioned these let the flamming begin!

That's pretty sweet that it now works in your car. Sure would suck to pay so much for a nice phone like that and not be able to use it. What stereo do you have? I just got a Pioneer DEH-P590IB to work with my iPod, but I'll be getting an iPhone when they bring it to Canada. Thanks for the info.

No special stereo. I just remember when I bought the iPhone the guy told us that it would play in most iPod compatible things that have 32 pin doc connector or whatever the iPod is. Then it would not work on my iHome, or both our car adapters. now it works on all three. I am very happy. And this only happened after the update.

question when u get a call does the voice come through the speakers?

To be honest I gave up on the whole idea, and my girlfriend actually discovered it because she kept trying. After the update it started working and so I figured I would test it for a few weeks before I posted it, and then turn out wrong. Put all seems well.

In relation to your question I always hoped for that... well in some situations. But no when a phone call comes in the music dims just like when you have your headphones on. Then the phone is ringing and you can answer it but no voice over the speakers.

By the way it does not work on the iHome, maybe I just thought it did... should have done more testing like I did in the car.

By the way # 2, it always charged in the car just did not play audio through the car.

What is your car setup? Is it a FM transmitter by chance? I am just wondering because I am looking to buy a FM transmitter + charger for the car.

Right now, I am using a Monster FM Transmitter that has a normal headphone jack (which was cut with a knife so it fits) AND a car charger, with the bluetooth headset....It sure would be nice to have only 1 wire coming out of my iPhone.

second question...can u control the ipod functions through the car stereo...

oh and is the adapter your using hooked to a factory stereo and what adapter is it?

both are FM transmitters I think that was the original problem. The one I am using is in a picture below dont know what it is called but plugs into cigarette lighter and works great! Realize it will not fit perfectly but use the video iPod adapter.

My girlfriends is just a cord coming out of the cigarette lighter and has an end like your iPhone/iPod charger. I like that much better because you can have it sitting in your lap or on the dash or where ever and is much much easier to use then a stationary one. I can get pictures later but both from bestbuy. Both work great.

I am sorry I do not understand your question... do you mean can I change the song or playlist or such through your car like it is a CD player? If so, the answer is no, the only thing the car controls is the volume.
Yes it is a factory stereo, my car is not worthy of a nice system. I will try to find receipts to give you names but again they are both from best buy and I will get both pics up later, one right now.

If you could get me the model/name of your girlfriend's fm transmitter, that would be perfect. I will buy it immediately, its way too messy the way mine is set up. Thanks!

I have the monster FM transmitter and heard that after the update, the transmitter that I have now works. On the monster website it says that the transmitter I have is not compatible with the iPhone. But the problem is I can't seem to remeber to plug my iPhone In instead of my ipod everytime I get into my truck. One of these days I will remember.

Anyone find a working FM Transmitter + Car Charger via dock connector? I bought a iTrip today, but it doesn't work. It will only charge the iPhone...Strange thing though, it does not warn me and ask to be put in Airplane mode like a previous one that I had bought.

UPDATE:

I took that iTrip back, and I bought this. When plugged in, it WORKS! It does give you a warning, but it will work both in airplane mode and not in airplane mode! This is great news. BTW, the quality of the sound is fantastic (in my opinion, at least).

Note that on the website, it says:
"The following product will work with the iPhone, but with limited functionality, will only charge the iPhone. When the transmitter is connected, the iPhone will display a dialog box, that asks: would you like to turn on the Airline mode? Select Yes to assume functionality of the transmitter. "

That is NOT true, as it works fine in normal mode. I think that it was airplane mode only before the 1.01 software update came out, but all is well now :D

I will try to get you the name brand of that transmitter...

So does this mean people have not noticed this already? And the whole time I though I did not search well enough and was going to get flammed.
