Ugh - I thought spending 10 minutes with each would make the decision easier but not so much.

How can I not go for the Bose? The sound is vastly superior to the airpods. The volume controls are a killer feature. They are comfortable and secure.

How can I not go for the Airpods? They sit flush to my head while the Bose stick way out and make me look like 1960's Lt Uhura. (my friend says Obama ears) The carrying case will fit in any pocket. They are comfortable and secure.

The next test will be phone calls on the road. Then wearing at the gym.

Then I may just have to find a quarter to flip.

I have worn both, the Bose Soundsport, and Airpods, along with the Beats Powerbeats 2. After using both the Airpods and the Bose, the Beats have been relegated to the end table drawer. I like the convenience of the Airpods, just open the case, pop them in, and boom, they play whatever you're using. However, I'm still not convinced of the solidarity of the placement in my ears, (YMMV), and feel sometimes like they're ready to fall out, causing me to adjust them. I use a couple different tracks to try to determine which are the best sounding, (Disturbed's Sounds of Silence, Yanni Reflections of Passion, and Standing in Motion), and they both (to me) sound fairly close, with the edge going to the Bose. I like the clip on the connecting cable on the bose, as that way I can place the cable where it doesn't catch/drag on my neck when I'm at the gym, and if they do happen to work loose and fall out, they're still attached to me. The AP are so light, and disconnect often enough that I really may not notice if one has fallen out.
Toss up here, too. I'd really like to try out the Bose Soundsport "FREE", to see how they feel/stay in/sound.

That's what I have and they're great. My test track is Paul Simon's Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes. Also the final bit of Day in the Life.

Yeah, A Day in the life, never thought of that one.. Probalby just about any of the Beatles stuff would be good, or even Brubeck's "Take Five".. But then, "sound" is subjective, and I just like the noise out of my Beats Soundsports, and if I can get that same sound out of the free, I'll be a happy camper!

I like Diamonds because there are so many layers of drums and sound that it's easy to lose some through poor speakers or phones.

Are you talking the one by Rihanna? I just listened to that through a couple of other earpods I have laying around here, and the difference in the drum in that is amazing. My Bose are up in my gym bag, or I would have put those on, but I see what you mean.. :)

Oops, just saw which song you meant.. my bad. I'll try that one too.

Love Paul Simon and that song. Good test song.
[doublepost=1514475045][/doublepost]I have not done this yet, but I've heard you can buy the cheap silicon cover for the apple ear buds, cut out the hole for the sensor, and the security of the fit as well as the sound are enhanced..... Still fits in the case to by some accounts.

I made a phone call with the Bose and DW said the ambient noise was louder than my voice. Back they go.

I won't help you here... I love the AirPods for calls on the road...even over my vehicle's bluetooth speaker system.... but man, they always feel like they are going to fall out and sometimes they do even when I am not expecting it.
