2 dvds into one

Hi!

I have 2 sepearate dvd projects that are 2GB each. I was looking on how to have both dvd projects on only one dvd with a startup menu that'll select whichever movie that's chosen. Is there an easy or step by step way to do this? I have iMovie, iDVD, and Toast. Thanks.

A simple method is to open a new project in iDVD, choose your menu design and import each clip. Then burn using iDVD.

If you want to cut it up more (separate chapters etc), start a new project in iMovie, import your clips, chop it up, then export to iDVD and follow above.

Also: Try the tutorials and help in both

If both clips amount to more than 4GB (will show in both iMovie and iDVD), you won't be able to burn onto one disc, despite them being 4.7.

Thanks for the tips guys. I came across a few problems on the way to putting 2 movies on one dvd. I tried dvdbackup first, but it does NOT work on Tiger! Only the first chapters get copied. The author will not fix this. So I tried MacTheRipper which is way better and actually works. Then I used dvd2onex's join feature which worked great, but actually puts the second movie after the first movie. I really wanted a menu on startup to select whichver movie was chosen. I finally used Toast to create a simple menu on startup and burned to a dvd.

I did try out iDVD, but I would have waited over five hours for the files to be imported!

The only problem I'm having is one of my dvd players can't handle choosing the second movie from the menu. I did burn this dvd at 1x overnight to better the chance of the dvd playing in all players, but the dvd player I have is a crappy one.

That is the problem with big files in iLife apps if you're not using something like a PowerMac.

iMovie will let you join it all up though. It's a user friendly app but it will take a while to import stufff.
