Hi y'all,

I tried to find something similar to this question and didn't see anything. I am wondering if it's possible to use 2 external monitors with my 2021 iMac. Work has provided both to me (they aren't fancy, but do work), and everything I've seen has indicated that it's not possible to connect both of the externals. I was hoping there might be a utility or something else I could download to use both.

Thanks,

AC

You will need some external hardware.

At the expensive end you have video wall controllers/processors, which chop up a 4K image into 4x 1080p outputs (or an ultrawide 3840x1080 image into 2x 1920x1080 outputs). All the work is done in hardware, no software required.

At the cheap end you have USB 3.0 to HDMI adapters, which require a 3rd party utility to work (not all work on MacOS - check compatibility).

There is no pure software solution for using 2x external monitors with 2021 iMac (or any other M1 Mac that has an internal display).
