hi guys, today I tried to log into the Apple Support site on my iPhone but I got a 2 factor authentication (2fa) request even though its a trusted device. But that’s fine as I’d rather have that security. However, even though it’s a trusted device, I didn’t get the code. I had to request it via text message.

I then tried to log in from my iPad when I got home. The iPad is a trusted device and again I got the request to “allow access”. On the iPad I did get the 2fa code. BUT I still did not receive it on my iPhone. That’s a concern.

I checked security and my trusted devices and the iPhone is showing on there.

Any ideas what’s gonna wrong?

No idea what's going on. There appears to be issues with App Store right now, guess not related, but if Apple is having some server issues, may be related (but would guess should affect all devices to get code).

Seem to recall having this issue when iOS 11 first came out, as well as when I got my new phone. If I remember correctly, signed out of iCloud, went to appleid.apple.com to remove the device from trusted devices, then resigned into iCloud and approved it to be a trusted device via Mac.

Thanks guys. I've rebooted and that didn't work. I'll now try nobomac's tip. But with my experiences with apple products over last 2 or so years, I'm.not optimistic.

The same thing happened to me a week ago. Got the 2fa code on my iPad but not on my iPhone which I thought was quite strange.

Did you contact Apple about this? If so what was their reply?

I did this method but was not asked for the iPhone to be approved as a trusted device. However, it is showing as a trusted device. But it had done so previously and still didn't get the notification codes. I now need to wait for a code to arrive to see if it works now.

Are you going to the website or using the app? It won't recognize that you're using your "trusted device" if you're browsing on Safari.

I went via the web. But the issue is not that it's asking me for the code, it's the fact that I am not notified on my iPhone (which is a trusted device) that a) someone is trying to access the site. b) not sending me the code. It can only send a code via SMS.
