1. You can use 2 GTX 660 2GB SC cards inside your Mac Pro without getting an external power supply. I used to run two in my 3,1.

2. Problems? No, shouldn't be. Just make sure you have the extension cables for GPU power.

3. The most significant difference between the 580 and the 660 is the power consumption. I don't think that even ONE GTX 580 will run inside your Mac Pro without rerouting power from your Optical Drives or using an external power supply. I would go with the 660s.

4. From what I can tell, two cards fit EASILY, but I believe there are reports of being able to squeeze 3 cards in with some modification. Someone correct me if I am wrong, here. Of course, I'm referring to dual slot cards, which most modern GPUs are. Obviously, if you were using single slot cards, you could fit up to 4.

5. This is not the case. The GTX 660 cannot be flashed easily, probably not at all without significant investment.

Hope this helps.

Would you know anything about 680 can i run 2 680 4gb with another ATI 5770 now can i use power from dvd player on my mac pro for second 680. I will need to hack my mac pro to create some space for 3th card

thanks

You will not be able to run those cards off of internal power. "Hacking" your case might (?) give you the clearance to fit 3 cards in there, but you would absolutely need another PSU to power those cards. A single GTX 680 barely runs off of the available internal power, let alone two AND a Radeon 5770. If you could fit them all in your case, you would still need an alternative method of powering them.
