My Gf is still running 2.0 and she thinks her phone will blow up or something if I update her software. Meanwhile, her phone is so buggy it doesn't work half the time. I'm trying to convince her to let me update her phone and, since she doesn't have a computer, give her access to itunes so she can manage her music.

I'm running Leopard on my iMac. If creating a new user for her will that allow her to manage all her music, run software updates, etc on my computer? (She did sync to a friend's PC when she got her phone, but hasn't plugged it into a computer since. She's been considering getting a notebook, but the only thing she would use it for would be to manage music in itunes. Seems like a waste of money, especially if this would work).

Will this work? Can you have two music libraries and two phones sync to one mac?

It is as easy as creating another user on your computer. Works for both Mac / Windows. Then put all her songs and contacts on there, everything will sync.

And it is 100% impossible for an iPhone to stop working while updating. Even if something were to happen, its completely reversible.

You can have 2 music libraries if you set up 2 user accounts, yes. (It is possible to have 2 libraries within 1 account, but it gets tricky so I don't suggest it.)

But forget all that. I suggest just putting all her music in YOUR library. Then, make a playlist containing just that music and sync just that playlist to her phone. She'll get her music but not yours. Or, hey, she can take some of yours if she wants.

Tell it not to sync contacts and calenders at all, it sounds as if she's doing fine without having that happen now, so just leave it alone.

And yes, she has no reason to not upgrade. 2.1 is amazingly better than 2.0. Now, many claim they liked the last 1.x softare more than any 2.x software, but that's not her case. She's already at 2, why stop at the worst version ever produced?

Yeah, I would have just tried it, but I had to be sure so I could present the case with certainty. She's being completely irrational about updating. She turns on her phone and the volume turns itself all the way down without her touching the volume button. Then the screen goes black and the power off slider appears -- she has to hit cancel every time and turn the volume back up. Her battery life sucks. She still won't let me run an update.

Anyway, maybe I'll be able to bait her with the chance to sync her music. Thank you both for responding.
