I have a new Apple Tv which uses iTunes Match to play my iTunes library in the Cloud.

My iPhone (and iPad) finds the Apple TV no problem with my iTunes account.

How do I have my flat mates iPhone also find my iTunes library on the Apple TV? It's just seems to try and connect to my laptops iTunes and not the Apple TV.

Thanks guys

Is he connected to your wifi? I don't believe it will work if he's not on your network.

Yes, we are on the same network..... but does the fact that my iTunes is in the Cloud make a difference?

What do you mean by "have my flat mates iPhone also find my iTunes library on the Apple TV"?

If you're just talking about remote control, make sure he has put in your home sharing login under Settings > Music on his phone.

Let Me Know

If you get this to work and how you did it. Because I haven't been able to pair two iPhones to one Apple TV.

Sharing your iTunes library is different to home sharing. The Apple TV uses home sharing which requires identification through an Apple ID. That might be the problem.

I trying to have both our iPhone's act as a remote control for apple tv. So for example when I'm not there he can use his iPhone to control apple tv.

I don't mind him having my apple ID if that is what is required.

Thanks

yes it is required for him to know your itunes username and password.
i assume you trust him to have this, as it will also allow him to make purchases on your account and be able to access your account information.

of course, you could enter the user/pass on his iphone without him looking.

Wait, the roomie would have to KNOW the username AND password? I entered it once into my remote app, and I haven't given it a single thought since then. I'm sure I must be missing something, but can you explain a little more about why the roomie would have to know the password instead of the OP entering it once into the roomie's remote app?

I'm sure you have a reason, I just can't figure it out.

if you ever restore the iphone you'll need to re-enter the apple-id details.

for me I think the more important aspect is giving you flatmate the ability to buy anything he likes using your money!

however after period of time (cant remember what it is) after the app store is closed for exmaple you are required to enter the password again for any new purchases. This might work for you and your flatmate but be a bit hit n miss

technically no he doesnt need to know the password you just enter it on the phoen and if he goes to look at the screen he will just see dots for the password, but yes the phone will need to have the apple id and password entered once or how else would the phone know what apple tv to pair with

I have 2 iPhones and 2 iPads set up as controllers for one Apple TV3. It may have been easier for me because they are all on my account.

However, all you should need to do is enable iTunes Home Sharing on your computer. Then enable it on the remote app. Put in your account and password. He shouldn't have the ability to buy anything. Just make sure you go into settings on the Apple TV and turn on Parental Controls, then require purchases to need your password.
