iPod 2 issues

I hooked up my ipod to a firewire port on my friends computer and it said that it wasn't supported. I just got a video ipod, whats the deal with that? Secondly, I bought a video and put it on the ipod and it doesn't play. It's on tv out off too. Any ideas?

Anybody have any idea as to why the video i bought and downloaded from itunes wouldn't work?
