Hello!

I am running Mac 0S X 10.5.8 on my MacBook laptop. Yes, I know this is an ancient operating system! LOL The reason I haven’t updated is because I need to be able to use my software which is expensive and it won’t work on the operating systems after the OS X. Would it be possible to run two operating systems on my MacBook somehow? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance

First tell us which MacBook you have, year and model? That will determine which other operating system you can run on it. For example: An early 2008 white or black MacBook will be limited to running Lion as the latest operating system it can handle.

Sorry, I realized I forgot to put the particulars after I had already posted it. It is possibly a 2009 I can’t remember exactly when I got it, MacBook 5, 1 Intel Core 2 Duo, Processor speed 2.4 GHz, 1 processor, 2 Cores, L2 cash 3MB, memory 4GB, bus speed 1.07GHz, boot ROM version MB51007D.B03, SMC version system 1.32f8.

Thanks so much!

If it's a MacBook 5,1 then that's a late 2008 Aluminum MacBook according to Mactracker and can run up to macOS 10.11.6 (El Capitan). You could possibly dual boot Leopard (10.5.8) and El Capitan if the hard drive is large enough. But it might be better to use a bootable external hard drive that you installed El Capitan on.

I'm sure other members will chime in here with some better ideas for you. Also, what software is it that you're concerned with that will not work with a later version of macOS?

Thanks for the great information! I hadn’t thought about booting it on an external drive. The main software would be Adobe creative Suite 4. Thanks again!
