2-Part: Logo and Contracts

Got a couple questions for the designers out there.

1) How much do you charge (or would you pay) for a logo design?
I recently went through Logojeez to get some logo concepts designed, paying about $300 for the end product with unlimited revisions - they seem to have decent designers based on the concepts I received. I need some professional opinions, though.

2) How do you write your contracts/agreements?
I'm just starting to get some more substantial side work in consulting, web design and some training, and I'm in kind of a rush all of the sudden to come up with some formal contracts for my services - any ideas or tips?

The last logo I did I charged $4,000 for. Usual logo jobs I charge $500-$1200 depending on time and complexity. [I also normally include business papers as well in the cost]

On the GAG guide. Contract example in there are good [as well as the AIGA guide], but take the $$ info with a bit of salt. Depending on your market locally/regionally, they always seem about 20-40% too high. Adjust as needed. See if you can get some $ ideas from firms and freelancers in your area.

Goal in pricing is to figure an hourly you wold like to make, estimate the hours and then quote accordingly. My target is $40-60 an hour [as a freelancer, agency rates are usually double to triple]

Thanks for the feedback. I'm good on pricing, but I don't have any contracts drawn up yet - I've seen a ton of templates and standard contracts online, but I was hoping to get some more samples or tips on how to write one here. Are the GAG guide contracts legit enough to use?

As far as the contract goes, there are a lot out there you can use freely, just making changes to reflect you and your client. Here are just a few that might get you going:
