Hi all MacRumors people..

I will order my iMac from New Zealand so that is why its 2 weeks cos they have to order it from Singapore, why can't I just get it right away !!!

So my rant: Is it worth it to wait for 2 weeks to get a brand new iMac 3.06Ghz with 8800 GS?

I know it is worth it but come on 2 Weeks

That is all I have to say... :)

Congratulations on the new iMac and yes, 2 weeks is not that unusual when ordering a Mac. I waited 2 weeks for my mid-2007 24" iMac even though I ordered it on the date of its release.

Incidentally, unless I am confusing you with another Kittychan didn't you just buy a mid-2007 24" iMac like 2 months ago? :p I seem to recall replying to a post to that effect.

Anyway, congratulations and enjoy the new one.

2 weeks is about standard. Takes that long for shipping/customs etc.

It's a rip-snorter of a machine, grab some good quality 3rd party RAM and boost that sucker to 4GB - makes a big difference.

2 weeks - you are lucky

Well, I call you very lucky, only 2 weeks!!!!!!
I am desperately waiting for the "new" iMac to be released here in South Africa.
No confirmed date so far!
So stop moaning and order the thing ;)

Hope I will be able to order one in 2-3 weeks time

Ohh yes I just bought my very first iMac 2 months ago and then got really mad  so I redeemed myself with a new iMac :p

svenwillmann I feel bad for you mate, I am sure you will get a new iMac soon in South-Africa. I thought in the U.S. you get a top end iMac easily in a shop

so Chundles, do you feel the madness of the new iMac?

I waited over a month for my iMac, in the end they gave me £80 of anything from the Apple Store by way of compensation! :)

I would say two weeks is about the standard. A lot of people are told two weeks and end up getting it sooner than that.

Now, are you sure you want to order one right now though?

WWDC is next week and who knows what is going to come out of it? Maybe another bump for iMacs? Maybe a brand new machine? I have no idea and everything else is pure speculation but there have been endless complaints on here about people ordering a new machine only to want to return it because something else was released just after they ordered.

Personally I would go ahead with your plan, but I'm just sayin'.

Cheers.

I got mine 243 minutes ago. I did it shark-attack shopping style (grab & go), because I know myself well enough to know that if I had to wait for it I would change my mind every 10 minutes. If you are that type of person you are in for a long haul.

Is it still worth the wait? My 245 minutes experience says 'YES!'

Relax and catch some Z's mate. It'll be great!:D

I don't own one - we have one of each on display here.

I too agree that the 2.8ghz with the 8800 setup in-store would be nice.

As for the waiting of 2 weeks, hey, it's worth it, and that's all that matters. There's plenty ways to burn time for two weeks, but it does suck that the computer is all you'll think about. Meh, there's always a downfall.

I feel very confident they will NOT be updating the iMacs anytime terribly soon, based on the fact that it is the most recently updated item in their lineup of computers (It still says "New" on it). So there's no way they'll update it again so soon.

Now, the Mini, the MacBook... both could get an update. I'd love to see a move away from white to aluminum (silver). Unfortunately it dates your current white machine very obviously when the new ones come out as silver.

I agree with most of you why not all the iMac with geforce are standard model but CTO ???? I think it is just part of marketing because if you @#$% up your CTO com after 7-14 days, you have no chance of getting a new one, Also if the new iMac comes out you have no chance of getting it replace with a new model...

Since it is not a standard mac and it is CTO I have to wait for 2-6Weeks according to the store staff  but that didnt stop me from ordering 3.06, Geforce, 500HDDD today with a wireless mouse :p

whew thank god i have a ton of apple stores near me, i would pull my hair out if i had to wait 2 weeks. i have like 6 apple stores within 30 minutes.

07 Jun 2008 (Subject to change)

My 3.06 is due soon! Can't wait. Nearly 2 weeks wait for me too.
Although i went for the 1TB hard drive and 4gig RAM so i knew it would have to be built.

Question: Will it say "Subject to change" right to the last day on the tracker, or will i get a "FIRM" delivery date? And also do they give you a AM/PM slot or do you have to stay in all day getting excited?

Thanks for the tips guys.

For New Zealander they give you a tracking number, so I think you would have that too :) I will have to wait and wait !!!
