2 year old has deleted 5 applications in my iphone

Ha.. he can drive it better than me! How do I restore applications that are deleted from my iphone please? I can see them in my PC, but they dont seem to reload.

And, while we are at it, is there any way to make an application 'safe' when my son is playing with the phone? He keeps opening other apps and deleting stuff and moving things round. I set it to airplane mode so he doesnt make calls... but he still opens and closes everything.

Loving the phone... just want the apps I buy to be in the darned thing! :)
 
Plug it back into iTunes, re-select the apps u want on the phone, then sync it.

Remind him that next time he does it, he'll get a beatin'.
 
Apple needs to add "No Deleting Apps" to the Restrictions area of Settings.

My toddlers do the same thing with their iPod Touch. It's a pain putting things back again.
 
Why not just re-download / install them from the phone? What am I missing?
 
You can download all the apps you have ever purchased as many times as you want.

Secondly, you can keep your iPhone away from your two year old or at least supervise him a little better. It wouldn't surprise me if you post another thread about how he broke the glass and cut himself on it or "accidentally" threw it into the toilet.

Gidday, and thanks! I have tried that. (the plug it in bit... not the beating bit! :) )
I dont see any way to highlight the wiped app... or to resynch the applications.

I have downloaded them all again, they are all in the apps summary...but they still do not refresh and reload. They are in my laptop... but wont upload back into my iphone..........
What am I missing?

I dont need him to throw it in the toilet, I alreday put it thru the washing machine two weeks ago, and now have a new one.

he uses it while i am in the room, he just pushes too many buttons..........

I dont need parental advise, just advise on how to get the appps back in to the phone thanks.

I was starting to wonder if i was the problem here. thanks! Good to hear others have same issues... like the no delete idea for kids apps. :)

Have you tried dowloading from the PHONE directly from the App store? Leave the laptop out of the mix. If you already purchased the apps, you will not be charged again.

Are they checked? Usually when you delete apps from the device, the next time you sync, they uncheck themselves from the Apps tab. That's because usually when apps are deleted from the phone, it's on purpose. ;)

Connect the iPhone, go to the Apps tab, and make sure that the correct apps are all checked.

Or, redownload them directly on the phone, and they'll stay checked in iTunes.
 
My 5 year old daughter loves playing with my iPhone, but she's learnt not to delete any of the apps.

2 year old - Hmm. I'd say you're better off keeping your phone away from him. At that age, they don't understand consequences, and it's 100% your responsibility not to give them the opportunity to make a mess of things.

Get him a fake plastic phone or ask friends for old broken phones you can give to him. Toddlers love these things, and they don't care if they work or not. I know one 4 year old who amassed a large collection of broken printers, phones, (both landline and mobile), keyboards, and other computer detritus, and happily plays with them for hours on end.
 
Connect your iPhone to iTunes;

Click on your iPhone under Devices at the left side > Then Click on the Apps tab at the top of the iPhone page > Then you should see a preview of your phone screen > At the left is a list of the Apps > Click the select box on each of the Apps you want to transfer across again > Click on Sync at the bottom right

Or just re-download the App from App Store - it won't charge you if you have already purchased it.

Want to check if you have previously purchased an app? Go to the app in the App Store, got to reviews, click on 'Write a review'. If it lets you start writing one, you already own the app. Otherwise it will appear with an error telling you you have to purchase the app before you can review.

Thanks for that tip on how to check. I was nervous about re-downloading some pricier apps that hadn't been sync'ed yet when my iPhone was stolen.

Just download them through the App Store app on the phone. Simple.

That's because it involves redownloading. This can be problematic without a WiFi connection. :) It's easiest just to sync through iTunes for most people, as the App Store on the phone isn't the most intuitive experience (no download queueing).

If you say so. I guess I assumed nearly everyone had wi-fi at home by now. I have had an iPhone since day one and have downloaded every single app directly from my phone. Everyone's situation is different I guess but to me it's far easier and faster to just d/l an app from my phone and not have to connect my phone to my computer, open iTunes, wait for it to sync.....etc., etc. The only time connect to a computer is to update my music/videos, transfer pics or update firmware.

Little man has 3 old phones, none of them do what the iphone apps do... he loves Talking Carl, and Dr Suess, and Old Macdonald... oh, and my contacts, and calendar, and notes, and all the important ones. :) thanks. :)O
 
I'm too lazy to read through the thread, so I hope nobody has already suggested just re-downloading them from the app store. I heard you won't be charged if you've previously purchased them.

I'd sure feel stupid if 5 people already posted this and I didn't notice.
 
My wife and I both have iPhones, and our 16-month old daughter loves to flip through pictures on it and play with the slew of toddler/kid apps available for it. After a couple near misses with destroying her iphone we just got her an ipod touch and a sturdy case. She still doesn't use it unsupervised but she can go to town on all the apps and we don't have to worry quite so much. Especially since she speed dialed my department chairman on a saturday once... :)

iTot flashcards, Elmo's Monster Maker, and the Dr. Seuss interactive books are her favorites... ;)

Thanks for the tips too - might try them out for sprog no.2 (currently 6m old).

Still using my 2G iphone - once I get my iPhone 4 (or BB) I might let my sprogs play with it a bit more (after removing SIM card).

Note: many modern phones can dial 999 / 911 even with screen locked or no SIM card:

I took the SIM out of my old phone last week and it displayed a sign saying emergency calls only.

I used to work answering 999 calls many years ago and you do get countless children calling by accident which wastes a lot of time.
...
It is a requirement now that all cell phones being produced have to have the ability to make an SOS (Emergency) call, even if it is inactive. The only reason a 911 call would be unavailable is if you were in a remote place with no cell coverage. Pretty much where the Deer population out-number the human population.
