2-year old iMac selling advice

I'm planning on selling this:

Apple iMac
20" Matte Screen
2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x512 Memory
250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive
SuperDrive 8X (DVD+R DL/DVD-RW/CD-RW)
ATI Radeon X1600/256MB VRAM Graphics Memory

I bought this 2 years ago when iMacs were still white and had matte screens. Where could I sell this? I'll go to ebay as a last ditch effort, and I don't have enough posts for the Marketplace, but are there any decent Apple selling websites? I'd really appreciate any help on this matter.

Do some research and watch pricing for completed auctions on eBay. Also watch similar systems advertised on Craigslist. In addition look at the mac2sell website for pricing suggestions.

Take a couple of good pictures and post that along with a detailed description of the iMac on Craigslist. But first take a few minutes and read over the posts and warnings here on MacRumors with suggestions on the precautions you should take.

Same exact machine as mine, people on here said they wanted it, then changed their minds.

Same thing with craigslist. People ask for a photo, or a spec I didnt list. Then NEVER get back to me, ever. I even write, days later "Hey still interested?" and get silence.

Im thinking eBay is all you can do.

On Cragslist I've also noticed that people ask questions and then drop out of sight. I kind of look on that as part of getting something sold.

As someone who has bought and sold a fair amount on Craigslist I think that the biggest obstacles to selling are not including a good description and picture of the computer. Also setting an unrealistic price. For example locally I see G3 iBooks still listed for $400-450 and recently a PB 867 for $500.

In helping friends list items for sale I've noticed that sometimes they check their e-mail in-frequently and don't respond to questions for a day or more. When you are trying to sell something you need to check your e-mail every couple of hours and answer e-mails immediately. People who are in a buying mode can talk themselves out of being interested if they have a day to thing about it.

I dont understand showing a photo of the iMac...I mean, yea, you want to know if I own it...but are they really trying to see if its burned, cracked or whatever?

So I dont include one cuz its more hassle than its worth to find a flattering image of my computer when it looks no different from the next.

When i ask, what do you want to see and Ill take a photo of that, and they never reply back.

And Im lazy. But I do check email all day.

I am not a good photographer, but I just take a few pictures with my digital camera of the computer powered up and then a shot of the inside (if it's a Power Mac).

A few pictures re-assures people that the system is real and helps them confirm what you have. For example I see people advertise a Quicksilver for sale and then the actual picture of their computer shows a MDD or an older model.

Also a picture helps with seeing minor details like what style keyboard and mouse are included.

In my opinion if your serious about selling you need to do the little extra steps.

Ebay: Easy and faster... but you deal with shipping and risk more with money.

Craigslist: You need to be patient. You'll get tons of questions, people will not remember which ad they responded to, etc. But I've found that if you're patient on craigslist, you can usually find a good/decent buyer that will pay a fair price.

Forums: These people are looking for a deal. If you wanna sell quick and to a good home and don't mind lowering the price, here's the place to sell.

You could try contacting powermax.com or macofalltrades.com.. I'm pretty sure they'll buy it, but they probably won't give what you want for it
