Hi,
maybe one of you guys have some solution to my problem?

I cant seem to get my optical output working on my new (few months old)
20" iMac, optical input works fine, but when i connect the cable to "line-out"
port the system detects it as "headphones"... :(

running 10.5.1 all updates installed.
everything else is working fine.

I use the optical out in Windows Vista. It is not detected automatically in the audio control panel (as plugging in a regular connection would), and so I have to manually switch individual applications or set the default to optical output.

problem is that i dont even get an option for optical/digital in the system..

no red light and no sound.

when i push the cable in it switches from "built in" to "headphones" in
both "sound preferences" and "audio midi setup", and gives no option for optical/digital.
