Basically the problem is that when I shut down my iMac, after about half an hour, it will randomly decide to switch itself back on, complete with the apple chimes!

I do completely shut down the iMac, rather than put it to sleep, so I really cant understand why my iMac would do this! Has anyone got any ideas, before I give applecare a ring?

Cheers :)

First off.. Reset your SMC. Start up. Then restart the computer again, and zapp your PRAM during Bootsequence.

Wow thats odd. I have a similar problem with my 17" iMac but it only wakes up from sleep.

I had that problem with my PowerBook when my phone was connected to it via the BlueTooth. Might be something to look in to.

Starting up when properly shut down sounds spooky though.

Yeah.. Check the Blue Tooth settings. Maybe it's a BT connection that is allowed to start the computer

Thanks for the replies guys!

The thing is, I dont have any bluetooth devices connected to my computer that would do this, the only sort of wireless connection I have is my airport one, and I would have thought that would have been disconnected during the shut down process

governor, you mentioned resetting my SMC and other stuff, how do I go about doing this?

Cheers!:)

Wait a sec. Blue tooth can turn a computer on from off?

I know it can wake from sleep but I dont think it can turn it on.

See this is what I thought! I thought that once you shut down your computer, the only thing that could turn the computer back on was the power button on the back

Anyone know if the computer can be turned on by any other way? Maybe my iMacs just posessed lol :D
