20 inch imac and final cut express

Hi,

i will soon be editing hdv. I was thinking about a mac pro but its just too much. How would a base 20" imac handle final cut express (nothing fancy just cutting pieces out of videos) would it be able to do this or would it be too slow?

Also id upgrade the ram to 4Gb, can i do this myself of will that void the warranty?

FCP runs fine on my 2.66 iMac 20" 9400m, 4gb Ram.

Not blazing but more than adequate.
