20" Macbook Pro?

Anyone know of heard any rumor if a 20" Macbook Pro would be coming out anytime soon? I know there are a couple of laptop companies like Acer and Dell, that have 20" laptop models, but I was wondering if Apple will be one of those companies too.

Anyone hear anything?

17" is already straining the limits of portability, I think. The only useful portability of a 20" laptop would be in moving it from room to room, which you could do with a 20" iMac instead. If you actually want to carry a laptop in a laptop bag and take it to school, work, etc., I think a 20" is just too big...

Edit: Actually, I could see a need for a 20" laptop for exclusive home use. An iMac can be moved from desk to desk (or table to table), but then you also have to lug the mouse and keyboard with it. And what if you want to work kicking back in a chair or even from bed? So yes, I think there is a place for a 20". But that being said, I think Apple will probably determine that the market for a 20" laptop isn't large enough yet.

The reason why I ask, is because I could've sworn I read it somewhere that it was in the plans. Then I see that Acer came out with one (http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/31/acers-hd-dvd-equipped-aspire-9800-laptop-released/) and Dell as well.

If I am not mistaken wasn't Apple the first computer company to come out with a 17" Powerbook.....which at the time was kinda unheard of?

Just wondering, because like I said, I thought I read it somewhere and I thought you people or this administrators of this site might know.

What's wrong with an iMac? Weighs only 4 pounds more than the Dell and is $2000 less comparably spec'd. A couple hundred for a custom case and you've achieved every bit as true a portability as the monster Dell.

That was a joke (sort of)...he was pointing out the reverse: that the 20" Dell is about as "portable" as an iMac. As in "not very portable."

I would buy one, but would not lose any sleep over not getting one either. I wonder if it would ever be more than a niche market for Apple? I would use it when I go off-site for a proglonged period of time. I dislike working with small screens.
