So, for a variety of reasons and hookups I have two options:

20" iMac 2.66 with 1TB HDD, 4GB RAM for $1,109 + Tax.

24" iMac 2.66 with 1TB HDD 4GB RAM for $1,199 + Tax.

That $90 is almost exactly the tax.

So, what should I do? The frugal side of me says go for the 20" and get a 500GB Time Capsule and replace the HDD in that to 2TB for another $100 and some DIY, but the other side says get the extra 4" of screen (which I don't REALLY need...)

So... suggestions?

Larger screen is amazing. I use it for everything from ppt to movies. Totally worth the extra 100.

I would go with the 24" screen. You think you won't use the extra screen space now, but once you've use it for a couple months, you won't. When I first got my 24" iMac, I thought it was almost ridiculous. Now, I can't imagine working on anything else.

Wow you can upgrade the 24" to 1tb and still get it for $300 less? I would buy a 24" instead of my 20" if I got that deal.

Definitely the 24" if you can afford it. As is the popular advice, 24" may seem too big, but once you're using it, it'll be just right. You won't regret it.

I'd just like to add that the 24" is an 8bits per color panel(16777216 colors), and the 20" is a 6 bits per color panel (262144 colors).

For $90, definitely the 24". I never knew the 24" screens are so unbeatable until I sold my last generation imac back in January and went to a macbook. For that reason, I bought a new iMac yesterday :)

You won't regret with the 24", i reassure you. It also helps the resale value significantly as well should you decide to resell it.

I would definitely go for the 24, it's capable of 1080p if I'm not mistaken. With an elgato eyetv it can be your tv.
