I just want to make sure with others, this is what I was told by AT&T.

Anyone else confirm this?

I plan on buying an iPhone on Monday, hardest thing is to wait...

Thanks!

To explain more.

the data plan for the iphone includes 200 text messages. Now when I asked if the iPlan also means I can have unlimited M2M text messages, she said yes.

Reason being, 20 bucks with the iPlan allows 200 plus unlimited M2M text. Rather I would have to add 10 more for the unlimited part (200 text and unlimited M2M is 10 bucks to add onto my plan as of now, and would just have to add 20 for the iPlan data which is 30)

Mobile to mobile VOICE MINUTES are included in every AT&T plan.

Mobile to mobile TEXT MESSAGES are not; though there is a $5/month option to give you an additional 200 text messages and unlimited mobile to mobile text.

I knew it, wonder why she said yes.

Best deal is to just spend the 10 bucks now, have 200 txts and unlimited M2M texts added to my plan now.

Then add the 20 data plan when I get the iPhone and NOT add anymore text.

Wonder if that will up my account to 400 outside texts and keep the unlimited M2M.

There was a post and a lot of talk about this a few days ago. The ultimate answer came to be: false. Most CRs said no, m2m is a different plan.

However, when I check my plan online, it does say I have this for free, and when I check my text usage, it shows a lot less texts sent/recieved than I actually have, leading me to believe I am getting m2m text. I wish there was a definitive answer to this somewhere.

Edit: On a side note, does anyone else's plan online display their data plan and IM plan about 20 times? 19 of them showing no activity, and only one correctly showing your usage? I hope they fix this soon.

iPhone data plan different on prepaid

his is VERY important for anyone on the prepaid plan. This is not stated anywhere that I can find but discovered it today and confirmed by AT&T and Apple. The iPhone data plan on prepaid does NOT include the 200 text messages. You have to pay an extra $4.99/month if you want these or 15 cents each! No where do I remember that being stated in the agreement during the iPhone activation in iTunes. In fact, all I remember is that it was presented as regardless of your voice plan, the $20 data plan for EDGE, Visual VM, and 200 text messages was standard for any iPhone activation - please be aware this again is NOT the case for prepaid. AT&T sticks it to you with less any time minutes, less N&W minutes, and no mobile to mobile when you get the equivalent prepaid voice package and then sticks it to you again when it comes to the data plan. When calling about this discrepancy, AT&T was very hostile and rude saying that the iPhone should have never been allowed to be activated with a prepaid plan (funny considering it's a built in option in the iTunes activation) while Apple apologized profusely for any confusion and offered to escalate the complaint about the misleading nature of the activation process after checking and double checking if this was indeed correct.
