Iphone pricing in Canada is ridiculous - I thought the Iphone X was bad... but they increased their prices even more!

A 512gb Iphone Xs Max in Canada cost $1999....

Anyone remember when that was high end laptop price range... an iphone would cost you $500-$600? wow...

Why’s it shocking when these phones are more powerful than the laptops that sold at that price?! Especially when similar / better technology is being put into smaller and smaller enclosure?!

There's a variety of iPhone model and storage options. No one is forcing you to go out and buy the greatest model with the largest storage capacity.

An iPhone is still an iPhone. It runs iOS, which isn't a true multitasking / windowed OS. It doesn't have a physical keyboard or trackpad. The screen is still too small to comfortably do many tasks. Hence it is not a comparable replacement for a laptop.

That considered, as impressive as it is that an iPhone can now achieve laptop-class performance in certain applications, I'm willing to bet that most people simply don't need that kind of power in their pocket.

Yes, but when the comparison comes down to hardware, it’s as or in fact more powerful than an average windows laptop.

You can pair an iPhone easily with a Bluetooth keyboard and depending on what you’re trying to achieve, it does work well enough. Bearing in mind, it’s not supposed to replace a traditional laptop. This comparison is pointless anyway.

I think if someone genuinely requires a traditional computer for whatever they’re trying to achieve, a smartphone / a tablet just can’t replace the ergonomics of a desktop setup.

My iPhone 6 can call people, text people, browse the web, and take pictures.

Not sure why I need a phone.

Corporate greed?
