The iMac was powered up earlier in the day. After i disconnected the machine and moved it to my house, I plugged it in and ....nothing! I troubleshooted the machine by opening up the back and checked to see if the power supply was giving power. It was...the #1 light was on but the other three were not. I then pushed the power button located on logic board...and nothing. I then pushed the 2nd button on the logic board located just under it. After i pushed the 2nd button, I then pushed the 1st button andl...nothing. After reading about similar issues, I came to the conclusion that it is a bad logic board.

My question is, is there any other troubleshooting tips I can perform? I just am in denial that this machine was working fine one minute and completely dead the next! Thank you for your time!

Are the capacitors blown? They will have the appearance of having a dome look to the top of a bunch if not all. If they are blown, the Logic board needs to be replaced. :mad:
 
I just looked at the capacitors and they do not have the dome shaped to them. The tops on all capaacitors are flat. Thank you for your speedy response Walter!
 
nice looking capacitors are no prove they did not fail ,especially in a G5
read this article and it gets clear

if you buy a iMac g5 used today and it did not get new capacitors from the previous owners with proof , open it and change the capacitors to new and high quality ones , change the original harddrive , but graphics card failure or logicboard failure ,display problems and PSU failure caused by other components can still occur

the iMac G5 was far away from being reliable in 2004 and time did not improve the iMac G5 in terms of reliability , ok there have been people who had no trouble to date with their G5 iMac , but thats a minority and most of this minority own the later isight 1.9 ghz and 2.1 ghz models where things improved a bit

but i guess yours has a faulty powersupply

Call me lucky, my non-iSight G5 model has been working like a charm for 6 years now under heavy and long time usage from me, and now very light and casual use for my mom.

If it were me, I wouldn't even think about fixing the problem, I'd just pop the hard drive out and take the hard drive to an apple store to transfer the data into a new iMac.
