Well like all 2006 iMac's, my superdrive has been out of commission. I have been looking for months not trying to find a replacement part and found no luck. This is the drive that is stated on my 24” iMac (2.16GHz Core 2 Duo):

PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06:

Firmware Revision: Q609
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2000 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds

Does anyone know where I can find this part? I know you can find an external for cheaper but I refuse to believe that this part doesn't exist out there.

Also, is this the same part?: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Appl...medium=shoppingengine&utm_campaign=productads

The part number reads the same as what is in the specs but it says it is for a Mac Mini or powerbook. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Okay.....can someone recommend me an external DVD/CD reader? I am going to scrap trying to get the superdrive part.

Just did a google search.....
Deleted what I found as all except OWC were out of stock. Email them to see what they say.
You might be better with an external as taking apart a iMac is a royal PITA!
