I just used the disks that came with this 2006 Macbook to install Tiger 10.4 so when it boots, you get the welcome screen with all that old goofy music. I did not go through any of the registration screens. I shut it down, inserted the Snow Leopard 10.6 disk and installed Snow Leopard. Took about an hour, but it counted down the minutes for finishing the install and kicked out the disk.

So now when I boot, I get the same welcome screen and music I got from the Tiger install.

My question is how can I tell that Snow Leopard is the system that is now booting when I want to leave the install ready for the next owner? I don't know of a way to get out of the Welcome screens demo so that I can maybe get to "About my Mac" where I can see what's system has booted.

Thanks,
Reed.

You may remember these old welcome screens. That's what I'm getting. Just cant get out of them without registering which I don't want to do.

Assuming you erased the hard drive before you began the system install - and assuming that your install DVD is for Snow Leopard, then the installed system won't be anything else.
All you need to do now is let the welcome sequence finish, then the first screen that you get is one that will let you quit. It asks if you want to shut down. THAT'S where you can shut down safely without setting up the user.

That's Snow Leopard. Tiger had the spotlight introduction, and Leopard/Snow Leopard have the "outer space" theme. Tiger also played Bytecry as the song, and Snow Leopard plays Honeycut
