I guess I 'broke' it somehow by using a chinese usb 2.0 hub in various usb ports. Then after i unplugged it, the whole system turned off and would not turn back on. I tried power + keyboard combinations and nothing.

So, I took out the HD to save the data, and didnt see anything unusual going on inside. Then I read about SMC reset. I did that and to my surprise, it turned on w/ Fans @ max speed, but no luck w/ anything else. No bootup sound (even w/ HD back in), no display, nothin....

So what type of repair or selling for parts am I looking at? Graphics card issue? or replace the entire logic board?

USB is hot swappable, so that should have not done anything. Without further testing, or a repair shop there is no telling.

Oddly I think your graphics card has likely failed. To be certain your SMC is failed as well. I would try to do the SMC reset again. Shut off machine, unplug, HOLD the power button for 15 seconds, plug back in, wait 30 seconds, power on. After that try plugging in different ram. If all that fails its the graphics card. If THAT doesn't fix it your LB will need to be replaced.
