MP 1,1-5,1 2007 Mac Pro drive 1 removal?

I know to pull the latch in back & have removed the 3 empty bay slots but cannot understand how to get the 1st slot to pull out. Is there a trick I'm missing? I think the s/n is 825-6913-A. There are torx screws on top but they don't appear to be holding the drive in place because I have loosened them (which is hard because there is no clearance with the top of the case which doesn't appear to be removable) so, the drive and I are both stuck! Trying to pull the drive for a recovery. Many Thanks!

Try a bit more force. It Sounds like it’s wedged in there. The sled should pull out like the others.

Slip your hand in and pull the drive, sometimes they stuck. As long as there are no red labels shown the sleds are not locked.

Thanks for the rapid response! Do the screws apply to the drive? Do they need to be removed?

No there are no screws that hold the drive sleds in. Try lifting up on your release handle in the back while pulling on the drive sled.

You might not have fully released the drive sleds. On mine, I can remove all the sleds except the first one if I lift the handle to the point of resistance.

But, a light pull, and it goes past a notch feel, and then the first sled slides right out.
