So I've been doing plenty of research reading around about upgrading my little 80gb drive to something bigger, and I think I'm almost ready for it. I have the the 1.5gb SATA interface, and I was thinking of going with one of the Seagates, and making sure that it has the little 3.0gb/1.5gb jumper. I'd just like to confirm from some of you guys if you know:
1) Is the little jumper option necessary? Has anyone tried sticking in a 3.0gb SATA HD without the little jumper and had it working fine?
2) Is it best to stick to a specific manufacturer when it comes to HD options as far as compatibility is concerned? I really like Seagate due to all the bad luck I've had with Western Digital and some others.
3) Do these Mini's have any type of size limitation? Am thinking about going to a 320 or 500gb. If a firmware update is needed, I have no fear in doing so.
Thanks guy!
