Good evening everyone hope everyone is being safe out there.

I bought two firewire cards from ebay and both sellers are Mac folks. Well turns out each card from both sellers the firewire card did not lineup with the front PCI notches (WOW). Kind of frustrating at this point. Can someone direct to the model I should buy for the 2208 Mac Pro, thanks.

Firewire bus is blown on the backplane and I need firewire for my Digidesign 002 interface. thanks notch no match.JPG

1. Visit Avid's website. They purchased Digi Design years ago
2. PCIe cards are very particular.
3. See what PCIe cards the users in the Avid Audio forums are using for the Digidesign 002

I would buy a Sonnet FW card.
Otherwise I have a couple of FW 400 cards in the studio.
Where are you located? I might be able to send you a card for free if you'd pay for shipping.

Thanks folks for chiming in. flygbuss I'm in AZ. Across the globe. Very cool on your offer. Yeah the two I bough wasn't even worth the hassle to ship back. But was really shocked they were Mac sellers and thought they would be certain. If anyone could just steer to the right one for my 2008 would be great. Love to pay for shipping and then some if I can't find one here soon. THANKS VERY MUCH
guess that is a PCI Card for old PowerMacs

Macschrauber that makes sense now. Was stumped because I counted 11 pins on the Backplane and the card had 11 pins. just different thickness.

otherwise I’ll be back in the studio on Wednesday and can send you a picture of the cards I have there.

That would only make sense if you had the card backwards in the first screenshot #1 . Why would you have the card backwards? Wait. If you did not have the card backwards, and it is a PCI card instead of a PCIe card, then it could be a 3.3V PCI card (the photo in #4 shows 5V 32-bit PCI slots).

Show us a picture of the card. And a link to the source if possible.

There exists PCIe to PCI adapters:

Some PCIe FireWire cards have the PCIe to PCIe bridge built-in (the card is PCIe but the controller is PCI - the bridge connects them together).

Need help with my early 2008 Mac pro 3.2.

I still can't get the system to see the firewire bus. ( says *warning unable to locate firewire devices*.

Came down to the backplane, have devices that are good and readable on my 2010 Mac pro. None of the ports work on the 2008 / front & back ports. Is there anything I can do to try to get it to populate devices on the system page.

I tried the uplug, wait 20seconds, hold power button etc and no luck. Also tried resetting Nvram Pram as well.

I also bought two firewire PCI cards that I can use instead from reputable MAC sellers, and they both sent me firewire cards that didn't fit, WOW. Had to send them back.

Anyhow suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Sorry but i might be on a wrong post.

flygbuss I can't find a firewire that would work. Let me know what you need from me and I'll send funds asap.

Perhaps someone here can't help me get the Mac to work for the firewire bus ?, all port are non-responsive and I get a reading in the system page saying *warning* unable to locate firewire device, and that's it ?. THANK YOU
