I have my Mac Pro connected to my Onkyo TXNR696 AV receiver and when I pull up the computer, it doesn't show my whole desktop screen, eliminating the top taskbar for the computer. I've tried quite a few things, with no luck.

Suggestions?

Have you tried going to System Preferences/Displays and playing with the Underscan slider?
That's what usually solves the problem for me when going from Mac to receiver, to two separate outputs from the receiver.... one display is always displaying just the center part of the desktop.
I think it only works when connecting through HDMI....
