2009-2011 21.5" & 27" ODD replacements?

Hi, I've noticed a lot with these machines that the ODD will not read the disk.

I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of any replacements that could be used instead of the Apple ODDs - these cost stupid prices to buy from eBay and such.
I am aware you can always use the ODD space for another storage device - however I am looking at just replacing it with something that can read disks.
