2009 iMac is Buzzing

One reason I got an iMac is that it's so quiet. Every once in a while it will just start buzzing from the back and it's annoying.

I suppose the vibration from the hard drive is making something rattle together inside. A light tap can make it go away but it will eventually return.

Thoughts?

Sounds like it could be a fan thats come loose. You could call apple, fans should be covered under warranty.

My mac has done that before when i first got it but it has gone away.

If you suspect it might be a fan hitting something get smcfancontrol and ramp up the fan speeds and see if the sound changes. If it is a fan issue you're best off sending in to Apple to sort.
