My old 2009 Imac ,with El Capitan, is not showing "internal mic" option in sound preferences. It lists External Microphone and Line In as the only two options. I wanted to ask should 'internal mic' be an option?
Thanks for any help.

Update: After several hours of trying to figure out why I couldn't find Internal Mic in Sound Preferences, I decided to check the Output for Internal/ Built-In Speakers. It showed Headphones / Headphone port. That made sense as I have external speakers plugged in. I decided to unplug the external speakers. That changed both output and input in Sound Preferences. It then showed Internal Speakers for Output and in the Input setting it then showed Internal Microphone / Built In option.

This is probably a useless thread. Mods feel free to delete.
