My folks Mac Mini - I'm assuming is an 2009 2.0GHz Core2Duo. Recently upgraded to Lion, and i've just purchased Win7 to run in parallels.

I've read this model supports 8GB RAM - Is anyone running 8GB in this particular machine? I read on 123macmini that I need to do an EFI upgrade? It was a really old post so i'm not sure if this is still applicable. I'm also not sure if this is necessary as i'm running Lion?)

Can I just drop the RAM upgrade in and boot it up, or do I need to do any upgrades or prep work beforehand?

Thanks for the advice guys!

Matt

Yep, I have the exact model you have. It came with 1GB, and now I run it at 8GB without any problems whatsoever.

You want EFI Update 1.2, but chances are you already have it since it's been out for quite a while. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1237

Pro Tip: Open 'About This Mac' on Lion and click 'More Info' - it now tells you the model name of your Mac (i.e. 'Early 2009', 'Late 2009') rather than just 'MacMini 2,1'.

It will work fine.
