Hi all,

i have a 2009 Mac Mini that won't power on, the power brick is fine and there is power to the power button in the back. I can't find a schematic for this anywhere so i don't know where else to look. anyone, have any idea where i could find the board schematic?

Cheers,
M,

Power to the....Mac?

I am curious how you were able to confirm the status of the power supply? You say that the power button is fine? We have had buttons be funny in the past at our shop!

There is no schematic available to the public for the minis unfortunately. There are few tests however.

1) Verify Brick is working with another mac mini if possible
2) Once the Main board is removed from the housing there are jumpers however leading into the MB and can be shorted creating the "button" effect.
3) What does the machine do when the button is engaged by jumping or pushing? are there any sounds, clicks, pops, hums?

Issues such as these can be diagnosed. Repair maybe another matter entirely.

Please keep us updated!

Good Luck! :D

Hi and thank you so much for the reply!

1) i don't have a different brick, but i measured the voltage on the pins of the power supply and it gave 18 and change (don't remember the exact number)

2) i just shorted the pins on the connector for the power button on the logic board (are you talking about different pins?)

3)there are no sounds at all, no lights, effectively nothing happens! :(

i am not sure if repair is possible, especially given that there are no schematics.... :( its rather sad, as it is quite a good computers still!
