I have a 2009 Mac mini. When I put the restore DVD (System one, not apps) in the drive to restore it, the mini vibrates like crazy - sounds like a bandsaw!!. Please note that this DVD is the *ONLY* disc which makes the drive vibrate; all other media is "operating within acceptable parameters" (to quote Data from Star Trek :D)

Will Apple replace the DVD set if I call Applecare?... I am backing it up to a DL-DVD for the meantime, so I can at least restore without all this racket (and potential bearing wear on the drive.)

Thanks.

[EDIT] READ THIS!!

I believe they would, but have you tried other DVDs/CDs yet? It could be a bad optical drive.

Thankyou for pointing that out, Jessica; I have amended my opening post to reflect the fact that it is ONLY this DVD which causes the vibration. :)
