I'm trying to get my Mac Mini to drive my Dell 30" screen at it's native res of 2560x1600. But I don't want to fork out the cash for the apple adapter, especially with the talk of issues with them.

Are there any third party cheaper options out there to got from either the minidvi, or the mini display port?

Monoprice sells a miniDP to DVI single link, but you need a dual link adapter. I think Apple is the only one making those.

Bugger it, I'm just loathed to spend $150 on something that a lot of people are saying they're having issues with with non apple displays.

I think I'll just live with the lower res until I get a new Mac Pro.

Is it the newer Dell 30" or the older one? If the newer, don't they have a DisplayPort? Then you could just get a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adater.
