ffffuuuuuuu

i just bought a brand new mac mini for 588

i could have saved 80 dollars and used that to pay for my ram

I was wondering about this yesterday. The new iMacs and Mac Pros have been in the refurb store for a few days, so I wanted to see what the refurbed Minis were going to cost. That $499 model is looking very tempting.

That $499 model is extremely tempting. Throw 4GB of RAM and a 7200RPM 320GB drive in there (both had for around $150 from OWC) and you've got yourself one nice, fast little Mac for around $650! :D

Isn't that the truth. I was going to get a 2nd one myself for $499 but they are all gone already. I am going to keep checking I guess!:(

The 2gb's are still in stock - can't believe :apple: wants an extra $200 for that upgrade... as much Koolaid as I have drunk - that mouthful would be hard to swallow :D

Not really. Buy a $599 base model (new) and add 4 GB RAM and a 320 GB 7200 or 500 GB 5400 for ~$150. So for $50 more you get new rather than refurb (not a big deal, I know), twice the RAM, and either a faster or bigger HD.

I just want to clarify something. Does cracking open the case on the Mini void the warranty or not?

According to MacWorld, Apple's policy is and has always been that you don't void the warranty by opening it up, but if you break something while doing so, *that* damage would not be covered. Moreover, the user-installed parts are not themselves covered.

I am assuming you would buy the ram and hd from newegg and not have apple do it when bought

The refurbished Mac mini 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo for $499.00 is now out of stock. :(:(:(

They didn't last long... I'll have to keep checking back to get mine.

I have been watching the refurbs for a couple months, they tend to get alot so just keep looking.

Has bluetooth become standard on the mini now? If so when did it become standard, I do want bluetooth when I get a mini.
