I have a friend/Client that Has been trying to upgrade His 2009 Mac Pro up to Mojave. Its been flashed to 5,1
He has everything it needs physically to upgrade just has issues. He has this card - Apple Mac Pro EVGA GTX 680 SC 2GB Graphic Card. The install of Mojave always gets stuck half way through and sits and sits. We started with High Sierra and same thing. I have worked on it remotely and so has the guy who sold him the card and the person who sold him the computer. I think its time to have someone who knows the correct steps sit down and find whats wrong and get it fixed.

Hello! I’m in Marshfield and am semi competent with Mac hardware, I can do MacBook batteries, hard drives, some pc CPU, etc. with that description I’m not sure I could help exactly unless it’s something dumb or obvious.

The gtx 680 is a Metal card (Kepler family) and should work.
There is a known bug with Kepler cards though when you try to install Mojave from a usb.
One could install with 2 drives installed (in the SATA bays) : 1 with installer , 1 with the target disk.

Depending on the firmware version now, it may be necessary to install HS first .

For both installers download the latest versions :
