I’m in the middle of upgrading my 2009 , have flashed to 5,1, have the x5690, have completed the Pixlas Mod and I’m getting ready to order a new video card. I have a Radeon 580 Black but I understand that it’s without the Mac EFI. I’ll be running a dual boot system so I’ll need a boot screen to see which OS to boot up depending on the task at hand. Can anyone suggest a hi-power card for video editing that’s metal-compatible and that won’t wipe out my ability to see the boot screen? My objective is to run a single x5690, 48G ram, on Mojave. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Radeon 580 Black

I suppose you meant the Radeon RX 580 Pulse(?)

There are several options you may consider :
-get the GPU flashed /buy another already flashed RX 580
-set the preferred OS in preferences and reboot
-Install OpenCore to get a bootscreen
-buy a different EFI flashed GPU (there are no METAL compatible GPUs available with bootscreen without flashing/opencore install)

Flashed cards/flashing service can be found easily on eBay.

Anyway there's a Forum dedicated exclusively to the Mac Pro (1,1-7,1) .
I recommend to take a look , there are loads of very informative threads, and post your questions/issues there:

Actually I have a XFX Radeon RX 580 8GB GTR Black Edition OC. If that’s. Pulse, I don’t know. Now I’ll have to learn how to do all that. thanks!

Your welcome!

I'm surprised the XFX card is working, almost all XFX cards are known for issues /dont work with Mac OS...
Anyway I recommend to read and post in the Mac Pro forum.
e.g. there's a thread about compatible GPUs etc.etc.etc.
