I'm looking at getting a refurb mba (the 2009 model), love everything about it except the internal speakers...no bass and too quiet.

does anyone know if you can get after market internal speakers that you can install in place of the lousy ones that come with the mba?

also, i will be replacing a 2007 white mb...does anyone have experience with both these machines know if the '09 mba has a louder max volume??

i seriously doubt u can get speaker upgrades, never heard of that for any apple product :D, not even pc's :D

i think the volume would be roughly the same on both machines.

try this program to increase your max volume
http://www.macstories.net/reviews/increase-your-macs-volume-with-boom/

it apparently works pretty well :)

Audio Hijack is another app which apparently can do this: check out this thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/445787/#10

PS: try getting a 2009 model with a SSD (64,128Gb), the 4200rpm HDD (80Gb, 120Gb) are so slow in my opinion, or try to get a 1.8" PATA SSD to install yourself. Just a little advice :D

hope i could help

If you look at the iFixit teardown of the 2011 MBA, the speakers are totally custom made for the MBA. They are quite small and thin, partly cause the case itself is so thin. Haven't heard of anyone offering a replacement, but if they did you'd void your warranty and you might break something else in the process.
