2009 MBP won't boot from Leopard DVD. stuck on white screen

Hi

I am trying to format my 2009 MBP to sell.

I currently am trying to boot from the DVD but it stops at white screen.

I got this leopard DVD from Apple directly (i lost my original disc) as I couldn't find what came with the computer and this was supposed to be the same discs that I had.

Please help.

That Leopard DVD may not have the correct version of Mac OS X for your Macbook Pro. A Snow Leopard DVD would.

that would be very frustrating as I called Apple and paid to get this leopard DVD.

I have a snow leopard UPGRADE dvd that it will boot up to but i can't install the OS.
