Yes. You can drive a compatible monitor at up to 2560x1600 (2560x1440 for the monitor you linked) from the mini Displayport on the early 2009 Mac mini.

The support note describes using a mini Displayport to dual link DVI cable, but you should be able to use a mini Displayport to Displayport cable. I have that exact monitor connected to my Mac mini (Late 2012) using a mDP to DP cable.

Update:

I'm using this cable.

Thanks. I hope that works with the 2009 as it does with the 2012 mini. I really don't wanna get the dual link for another 100 bucks or so. The monitor looked really good in person and seems to be getting good reviews.

The screen is fantastic. Beautiful. Bright. Even. Good viewing angles. No dead pixels. It has a good selection of ports. The price is amazing.

The design of the body is blah. The bezel is too wide. The base is OK. Even sitting next to a well-designed budget monitor like the AOC I2757Fh IPS 1080p, it looks cheap--until you turn it on.

On the plus side, the mount attachment on the back is VESA 75x75. You can unscrew that and wall-mount if you want.

So:

Display quality - A
Port selection - A
Design - C
Overall Value - A+

Got the Mini Displayport to Displayport. Best resolution I get on the 09 is 2048x1152 and it doesn't fill the entire screen. If I go Mini DVI to DVI I get 1080 but it fills the the screen. It sucks not getting the full res out of the monitor. I would hate to spent money on the MDP to Dual and not have that work. Bummer because the display is really nice.
