2009 vs 2010

Apart from CPU, GPU and RAM speed, most significantly, 2010 models include standard 1TB drive and WiFi.

K. The built in wifi was something I thought may have been new. Bunk wasn't sure. Thanks!
That's most easily remedied with a wireless pci card? (or just plugging in an Ethernet cable obviously).
Or just find a used 2009 with the module installed (It was an upgrade, and Im pretty sure it could be done later by Apple - I know it could on the earlier ones).
FYI: You can't upgrade the 2009 MP with a Westmere processor (Hex core, etc.) without first replacing the backplane board and the processor board. These parts will run $650+ so just keep that in mind in case you have plans to upgrade the processor in the distant future.
JMO, but a refurb 2010 base Quad is the best "deal" going for penny pinchers. Plenty of base speed and functionality and a relatively easy upgrade path to the Hex Westmere.

Thanks for the advice. I'm definitely going to be replacing my 13" MBP with a desktop system over the next week or so, just trying to figure out the best path to take. iMac i7 refurb is also in the running for my desktop of choice.
