2010 iMac screen flickering

Hi everyone,

my mum took my old iMac a few years ago and not long after it developed a “screen flickering” however I also noticed that when I try to increase the brightness there’s a faint and brief noise and then the screen goes black. Only recoverable by switching off and on. Apart from that it works a dream still.

Any thoughts?

Looks like hardware problems to me. Backlight control board of the LCD.
