So I just got my shiny new 160GB classic and it makes this odd high pitched pinging noise like when fireworks are shot up into the sky.it makes this noise about every 30 seconds. It starts with a whirring and then it makes this high pitched noise then stops. The sound comes straight from the device. Not from the headphones. I haven't dropped it at all and it's been in a hard rubber case since I got it. Any idea what this is?

yes it works normally. I seriously haven't had it for more than a month. Has anyone else had problems like this? what is the solution?

Alright, thanks. I've never returned an iPod before. I didn't but it at an Apple store I bought it at a big chain store called Sams. Do i return it to them?

1. Go to http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/

2. Choose the store closest to you.

3. Select a reason and what time you will come in.

4. You're all set.

----

5. Go to the store around your appointment time.

6. Check in with any Apple Store employee.

7. When they call your name, go to the back and describe your situation.

8. If it's covered, they will make a replacement.

9. Good as new! :)

well i called Apple and they gave me some tips and told me if it didn't work then i could just send it into Apple and they'll fix it for free. Thanks for your help
