Hi Guy`s ,
I need help and advice , please , thanks in advance
Here`s the deal :
I have a 2010 Mac Mini 4.1 / 4 Gb - Ram / NVIDIA GeForce 320M
and the standard rotating mass ! ( HDD ).
I have watched the video @ OWC on how to replace / change HDD to SSD.
It all looks fairly straight forward , except for a couple of things.
The " stick on" that is on the original HDD , to hold the wire and sensor in place, can that be replace with just plain electrical tape ?
I just don`t think it would stick back on properly after almost 3 years of use.
Now the second part might not be as easy to answer , but you guy`s are good !!
So here goes:
If I replace my HDD with an SSD , can I use "Trim Enabler" app for trim control ?
Now , will the Mac temp sensor that I stick onto the SSD , will that be good enough
to control fan speed and temp ? or do I need a software app?
Next thing is kind of tricky :
My 2.4 Dual Core , is what it is , not that fast , BUT , will it be good enough , when coupled with an SSD , to run OX -X.8.3 and Mac gaming apps ( App Store / only ).
The only reason I ask is that the new Mac Mini`s don`t have a dedicated GPU , but have a fast CPU. So Would a faster SSD help to compensate for the lack of processing power of my 2.4 Dual Core CPU.
A real quandary.
Right now / 2 partitions / 1 booting 10.6.8 the other M-L 8.3 and ML runs slow ,
SL runs A-OK
So there it is guy`s , should you choose to accept this challenge , well , thanks !
Take care ,
Gary
