hi ,

i have a 2010 8 core mac pro with 2 apple 24inch cinema displays attached. I am planning to add a third cinema display.

The card i have is the ati 5870 which supports 2 mini-dvi and 1 dvi display

adding a third 24 inch cinema display seem to require an ATLONA AT-DP400 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Port Converter.

this thing goes for 150 bugs. Seems expensive.

Am i able to add another graphic card a 5870 or the cheaper NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC002ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MTA4MzU2MzE)

if i can add the nvidia this would be the best solution for me. same price as the converter and i could use couda.

thanks for helping out

GT 120 can be found for less than $100 on eBay. I would definitely get that as it gives you option for more displays and is actually cheaper.

On my MP, the 5870 soaks up both available power feeds, so you might need to get another feed for your GT 120...
