I’ve had it off for a few months. It’s a network Mac. My main one is a 2019 Mac Pro and I have another 2009 Mac Pro also networked. I tried booting the 2010 today and it wouldn’t boot, like it wasn’t plugged in. Nothing. Ideas? I don’t even have a keyboard for it anymore. Normally I’d use Disk Warrior. I need to fine it. Honestly I don’t remember the OS. What’s before Monterey? Obviously I need a keyboard and the discs. They’re somewhere.

If it’s the battery how do I replace it. I have a bunch of 2032 lithium batteries here.

...double check power connections. Make sure the Mac is getting power from the plug.

As for changing the battery, here:

Gently slide the battery out; don't try to lift the clip

OK. Any other bright ideas? I finally changed the battery. It still won't come on. I have a second Mac Pro 5,1 3.56 GZ, as you can see in my signature. It still won't boot. I switched the power cables that go to the wall. I don't know how to check the internal power supply.

Check this thread….

Thanks. I made an appointment today with Apple Genius Bar. Fixing it will likely cost more than it’s worth

I didn’t realise they still looked at cMP’s at the Genius Bar….

They don’t. What a fiasco and waste of time. I checked the box indicating what year and model it is. They had me make an appointment. I went there, dragged that fat boy into the store, passed it off to the technician in the back. The guy with the iPad at the front of the store said “We can’t touch this. Anything over 7 years is obsolete.” That means my 2019 MP will be obsolete next year. They could have said this before I made an appointment.

I’ll order a new OWC four bay array enclosure for the drives, see if there are any PCI cards I can cobble for my other 2010 MP.

It becomes quite silly when they are still selling the computer new in late 2022.

The various people here will say you shouldn't have purchased it in the first place but if Apple sells it, they have to support it, which they aren't adequately doing at the moment.

It could be said they trying to squeeze people into moving to other platforms by way of limiting GPUs to Radeon RX6x000 series (and the no longer available new MPX modules) or earlier even though our 2019 machines can quite happily use other modern GPUs when running windows. But that's another argument completely with people strongly for or against it.

Well I bought my 2019 MP when it first arrived. It was the top of the heap for like a year, maybe. Until it was scrapped.
