I have the 2010 quad core Mac Pro.
Are the ATI Radeon HD 5770 and 5780 the only ATI models that work with the Mac Pro?
I can't seem to find much info anywhere.
I'd like to get a better one.

Those are the latest ATI video cards that will work with the Mac Pro. Nvidia has an Geforce 285 GTX but i'm not sure that's much of an improvement from the ati cards.

Since they got this working for a 2009 Mac Pro, it should work in yours as well. Although the improvement from a 5870 to a 6870 is minimal to say the least.

5870 is pretty much as good as you can get for an official Apple card, except for some very spendy specialized stuff.

It's hard to recommend without knowing what you mean by better. Do you need CUDA? Lots of video out ports? What software do you intend to use?

It is not an improvement at all. 5870 is, roughly, 45% faster at things not proprietarily coded for Nvidia.

The only real competitors over 5870 would be in order (more or less) and only on PC or modded Mac.

ATI 6950 (Almost even, 5870 beats it in DX10, Losses in DX11)
GTX 480 (Terrible card, for all it's slight edging out, it's noise and heat will make you crazy mad)
GTX 570
ATI 6970
GTX 580
ATI 5890
ATI 6990

I may have forgot one or 2 but really not that many faster. If you can't game on a 5870 you have other problems. I can play everything maxed. The only game I had to go lower on was Metro 2033 in DX11.
